How do I choose the right ring size?

It is important that a ring fits comfortably – not too tight that it is uncomfortable and not too loose that it could slide off and be lost. The easiest way to measure your ring size is to use our SCJ Ring Sizing Guide, download and print at 100%. Place the ring over the circles on the guide to find the closest match. If it’s in between two measurements, choose the larger size.

Print the SCJ Ring Sizing Guide here.

FIND OUT YOUR PARTNER'S RING SIZE (WITHOUT SPOILING YOUR PROPOSAL)

Download and print the SCJ Ring Sizing Guide above and follow the steps.

If you don’t have a printer, and are close to a Simon Curwood store, you might be able to take one of your partners rings and have our team measure the size for you in-store.

If you purchase a SCJ ring and the size is incorrect, we do offer ring resizing through our master jeweller.

Ring Sizing Product information

You can find the available ring size of a product listed on the product page under ‘size’.

If the size shown is not the correct size, click on the ‘customise’ button on the cart page. This will send a customised order through to our store with your desired size. Once we receive your custom order we will be in contact with you to advise on an estimated delivery date.

If you have any questions relating to ring sizing, please contact your local store.

If you purchase a SCJ ring and the size is incorrect, we do offer ring resizing through our master jeweller. Please contact your local store to book a resizing appointment.

Which rings for women are most durable?

Rings made of platinum are known as the most durable. They are also the most expensive, as the metal is rarer and denser than other metals. If you are looking for a ring in yellow gold or rose gold, an 18k metal will be the most durable option. If you don’t want a ring to get snagged, or you work with small children or with your hands, something with a low profile will probably be more durable for you. Please speak to our specialist staff members who can provide advice on the best ring metal and setting type for your individual situation.

What rings go on what fingers?

These days, you can wear whatever you like, wherever you like – but traditionally in Western culture, you wear your wedding ring and engagement ring on the ring finger (fourth finger) of your left hand. An eternity ring will sit on top of your wedding and engagement rings.

A popular option for wearing a promise ring is on the ring finger of the right hand or middle finger of the left hand, so it isn’t confused with an engagement ring.

For dress rings or cocktail rings, you can wear them on any finger you feel comfortable with.

How should a ring fit?

A ring should be comfortable – not too loose so it can slide off and be lost, but also not too tight that it becomes uncomfortable.

There needs to be a little bit of give in the sizing to account for those warmer days when your fingers are slightly bigger than normal.

Are ring sizes universal?

Ring sizes are universal – however, there are different ring size conversions depending on where you live. In Australia, we use a letter system, where other countries use a number system. It would be most accurate to visit your local Simon Curwood Jewellers store and be measured for your ring, but if you are unable to do that, download and print (at 100%) our Ring Sizing Guide.

How much can you resize a ring?

It is not recommended to resize a ring more than two sizes. It can weaken the structure, as it stretches and thins out the metal to make it larger. It is important to check with a jeweller just how far you can resize. Some rings are unable to be resized because of diamond placement – some have diamonds all the way around the band, which reduces resizing options.

How much does it cost to resize a ring?

The cost to resize a ring will vary on metal type and ring setting. If you would like to get a ring resized, please visit our specialist team in-store and they can discuss resizing costs and options with you.
